The animated action movie, Space Jam unleashes the creative powers combined with the state of art technology. It was released in 1996 by Warner Bros. family entertainment and starred Bugs Bunny and the famed basketball player, Michael Jordan. The voice over was provided by Billy West for the Tunes and the movie marks the debut of Lola Bunny, Bugs Bunny’s girlfriend.

The popularity of the film went beyond the normal memorabilia and Acclaim Entertainment produced a video game while Sega went ahead to launch a pinball game based on the movie Space Jam. The storyline plays with the NBA superstar, Michael Jordan pursuing a baseball career after retiring from professional basketball.

Based with animated alien characters, Nerdlucks minions to Mr. Swackhammer, who is a owner of ‘Moron Mountain’, an extraterrestrial theme park which is going bankrupt due to poor business. To gather more attractions, he sends the Nerdlucks to earth to kidnap the Tune characters. In the movie, the home of the Looney Tunes is deep below the surface of the earth.

As a challenge the Tunes ask them to play a game of basketball after seeing that they are not very tall. But Nerdlucks are devious and to make sure that they win, they resort to underhand means such as stealing the powers of the NBA stars- Muggsy Bogues, Shawn Bradley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson and Charles Barkley.

The stolen powers make the Nerdlucks powerful and they turn into gigantic creatures with super powers or Monstars that seem invincible to be defeated by the Tunes. To defeat the Monstars, Looney Tunes enlist the help of Michael Jordan and the game starts. The devious ways and tactics of the Nerdlucks, give Looney Tunes characters a tough time leaving only Michael Jordan, Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny and daffy Duck in the team.

To help the Tunes, Bill Murray enters the game but it was with the help of the animated extendable arm of Michael Jordan that the Tunes get the winning shots. After winning the game, Looney Tunes leave Michael Jordan on Earth and he gives back the stolen prowess to the players while Tunes return back to their homes. The exciting live animated movie was an instant hit and grossed over $330 million worldwide. The popularity of the movie gave the memorabilia industry a push and thousands of key chains, statues, soft toys and Michael Jordan shoes hit the market where eager buyers of all ages bought them.

The company, under the guidance of its new corporate overseer, Decker Outdoor Corporation, made a strategic move and positioned itself as a maker of high-end luxury footwear.

In 1998, the UGG footwear line consisted of two boot styles, four slipper styles and a few casual footwear styles. The new positioning as a high-end luxury and high fashion footwear supplier proved to be a perfect fit for UGG Australia. The famous footwear has been photographed on the feet of some of the world’s most well known folks, including Oprah. The latest UGG celebrity sighting is featured in InSide Style’s “Where Can I Get…?” feature – on the very lovely feet of actress Jessica Alba. InTouch Magazine photographers got a shot of the effervescent Gwen Stefani; toting son Kingston wearing a pair of the company’s famed Baby Boo line of infant boots. US magazine spotted actress Liv Tyler strutting in a swingy baby doll dress all dressed up with a pair of UGG Tasmina sandals, and Star paparazzi snapped Carmen Electra on the street in a stunning pair of women’s Classic Tall boots, one of UGG’s signature lines. Clearly, given the amount of celebrity endorsements, it’s fair to say that the UGG brand has arrived.

The UGG brand has flourished as a high fashion staple. From just a few distinctive styles of boots and casual sandals to dozens of stunning styles in comfortable, luxurious sheepskin, UGG has become a worldwide name in luxury footwear. It’s only taken a few short years – and the company is set for a good, long run at the top.

Since the ugg phenomena hit the UK I have been wearing sheepskin boots from Love From Australia and getting taunted by my peers. Is this right?

Everywhere you look, be it in Heat magazine or the Sun you will see celebrities wearing the latest sheepskin fashion boots. So why is it OK for the ladies to look Chic and yet still keep their tootsies warm whereas us chaps have to stick to trainers?

It is now 5 years since I first slipped on a set of LFA boots and from the moment my toes hit the insides I was in love with them. I have since moved to the Alps where you would think that the cold conditions and the excessive strain of a days snowboarding on your feet would lend to a more favourable opinion from the boys. Oh no.

Now admittedly I tend to wear my boots around the house as a high class slipper, or when I take off my snowboard boots at the bottom of the slopes and drive back home. Now yesterday, be it lazy or be it a more daring move, I wore them out to the supermarket to fetch my dinner. Lo and behold I bumped into the snowboard crew only for them to look down at my feet and the taunting started.

Now it’s a good job that I couldn’t give a hoot what other people think of me, so long as my feet are warm – I’m a happy man. The question I am posing though is what can we do to promote the sheepskin phenomena into the male market force?

The ugg boot originated in Australia where the term was used to describe any boot made of sheepskin. The ugg boot was used by pilots in World War I as its fleece lining was ideal to keep their feet warm. For the same reason it is believed that farmers from as long ago as the 1930’s wore the boots in the fields. Nobody quite knows when these boots became a fashion item and stopped being used for practical reasons alone. The boots should be stuffed with newspaper when drying in order for them to keep their shape. The newspaper also absorbs some of the moisture from the boot and so aids the drying process. Chemical products are available to help with the cleaning process but they should be used with care and only products specifically for this type of boot should be used as others may cause damage.
